Way 1: Using Control Panel

You can try to uninstall AVG antivirus by using Control Panel. Here are the steps you can perform: 

  1. First of all, open the Control Panel by going to the Start menu. 
  2. Thereafter, navigate to the ‘Uninstall a Program’ section. 
  3. Now, search for the ‘AVG’ program from the list of programs that are installed on your computer. 
  4. Once you get that, right-click on it and click on the ‘Uninstall’ button. 
  5. The ‘Repair and Uninstall Options’ pop-up box appears, tap on the ‘Uninstall’ button once again. 
  6. Afterward, click on the Next button to start the uninstalling process.

Way 2: Uninstall the Default AVG Uninstaller

You can uninstall the AVG antivirus completely by uninstalling the default AVG uninstaller that comes with the installer package. To do this, you can perform the steps mentioned below: 

  • First and foremost, go to the Start menu. 
  • Then, right-click on the entry of the AVG Antivirus. Choose the ‘Uninstall’ option from the list. 
  • Search for the ‘AVG Internet Security’ section from the next screen and right-click on it. 
  • Now, select the ‘Uninstall’ option from the list. 
  • Once you get the UAC prompt, tap on the Yes button to continue. Next, click on the Uninstall button once again. 
  • Next, you will be asked if you really wish to uninstall AVG antivirus and then tap on the Yes button. 

Note: If you don’t click on the Yes button, then the No option will be selected automatically after 1 minute. 

Once you click on the Yes button, it will start to uninstall the AVG antivirus program. Afterward, you will be prompted to restart the system. After restarting the computer, you can check if the antivirus is still there. 

Way 3: Using Remover Tool

You can uninstall the AVG antivirus by using the removal tools. To do this, follow the instructions stated below: 

Using AVH Clear: 

Visit the official website of AVG. Then, download the ‘AVG Clear’ tool. Once the downloading process completes, go to the location where you have saved the tool. 

Click twice on the downloaded file to run that. Now, it will inform you that it is better to run the file after booting the system in Safe Mode. Click on the Yes button to boot the computer in Safe Mode. Else, you can click on the No button to continue the process in the normal mode. 

Afterward, it will navigate you to the next page where you will see all the details of the product. Here, you can select what the product is and what paths you need to choose to uninstall its system folder. 

Lastly, tap on the Uninstall button to eliminate the AVG antivirus program from the system. Afterward, you can restart the system so that the recent changes can take an effect. 

Using AVG Remover: 

Go to the official website of AVG antivirus and download the ‘AVG Remover’ tool. After completing the downloading process, it will prompt you to read the ‘License Agreement’, ‘Privacy Policy’ or run the ‘AVG Remover’ tool. 

Click on the Continue button to start the process. Now, it will start to scan the entire system and search for the installed AVG products. Once, these folders get located, it will ask you if you really want to uninstall it from your computer. 

Once you agree to the prompts, it will start the uninstallation process. It will take a few seconds to complete the procedure depending on the performance of the system.

To do this, first, visit the official website of SublnAcl and run the ‘.msl’ file to install this. Once the installation process completes, you can open NotePad on the computer. 

Afterward, type the below commands into the ‘reset.cmd’ file. 

1st: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f

2nd: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f

3rd: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f

4th: subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f

5th: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=system=f

6th: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=system=f

7th: subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=system=f

8th: subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=system=f

Lastly, run the ‘reset.cmd’ file. Now, the AVG antivirus program will get uninstalled from the system as expected.
